The Waterfront Quarter is much more than a collection of new buildings. It is an exciting new destination in the heart of Huddersfield.
Linking all the new buildings together will be an extensive range of environmental improvements. These include:
- A new public square suitable for informal public use and also organised open-air events
- Huge improvements to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal including the removal of a concrete lid where it passes through the Waterfront Quarter site, and the relocation of a lock. These works will make the experience of boat users dramatically better and allow local people to see the canal.
- The cleaning-up of the site and the creation of a new riverside footpath, opening up access to the river at tihs point for the first time in many generations.
